Main Field(s) of Research, Abstract

Our research projects focus on clinical and neurobiological characteristics of patients with social anxiety disorder as well as on the impact of individual and process variables on the individual outcome of cognitive-behavioral group therapy. Our aim is to better understand how change takes place for the single patient and to improve the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral group therapy (e.g., with email support as an adjunct to cognitive-behavioral group therapy). Main patient variables are measured at the level of expectancies and therapy engagement. A particular emphasis is given to the therapeutic alliance, a central concept in psychotherapy process research.
